Details that help you get an accurate quote
- Where the mold is: crawl space, attic, basement, bathroom, walls, HVAC, or after water or storm damage.
- Rough size: the EPA notes that areas under about 10 square feet are often a homeowner job, while larger areas usually call for a professional. A guess is fine.
- The water source: a roof leak, plumbing leak, flooding, condensation or a damp crawl space. The EPA warns that mold most likely comes back if the water problem isn't fixed.
- Age of the home: older homes may raise asbestos or lead-paint rules if materials need to come out.
